Why does my breaker keep tripping?
Overloaded circuits, faulty appliances or a failing breaker: how to tell them apart and when to call an electrician.

A breaker that trips is doing its job: it cuts power before a fault turns into a fire. The question is why it is tripping.
Overloaded circuit
If it trips when the kettle, microwave and heater run together, the circuit is overloaded. Spread the load or ask us about adding a dedicated circuit.
Faulty appliance
Unplug everything on the circuit, reset the breaker and plug items back in one at a time. If one appliance trips it every time, it has a fault.
Call an electrician
If the breaker trips with nothing plugged in, feels hot or will not reset, switch off and call us. That points to wiring or a failed breaker.
