What to do in the first 24 hours after a car accident
Six steps that protect your health and your injury claim, from the scene of the crash to your first call with the insurer.

The hours after a collision are confusing, and the decisions you make can shape your injury claim for months. Here is what we tell every client.
1. Get medical attention, even if you feel fine
Some injuries take days to show. A same-day medical record is also the strongest link between the accident and your injuries.
2. Document everything
Photograph the vehicles, the road, traffic signs and your injuries. Collect names and numbers of witnesses.
3. Be careful with the insurer
Report the accident, but do not give a recorded statement or accept a quick settlement before you understand the full cost of your injuries.
