Course conditions: greens hollow-tined and back to full speed

Autumn maintenance is done. Here is what our greenkeepers did, why it matters and how the greens are rolling this week.

Thank you for your patience during our autumn maintenance week. All eighteen greens have been hollow-tined, top-dressed and overseeded, and they are already back to a stimpmeter reading of 10.5.

Why we do it

Hollow-tining lets air and water reach the roots and removes the thatch that makes greens soft and bumpy. A week of slower putting now means firm, true greens through the winter and into next season.

  • Greens: full speed, light sand on the surface for another week.
  • Tees: the 4th and 13th are on temporary mats until Saturday.
  • Buggies: allowed on all fairways.
