How we write a guide
Nothing is copied from a brochure. This is how a destination earns its place on the blog.
We spend two to six weeks in each place, on local transport and our own money.
Every cost goes into the budget sheet, from dorm beds to the airport taxi.
We walk the itineraries ourselves and cut anything that is not worth your day.
Prices, opening hours and transport are reviewed at least once a year.
Free travel resources
The carry-on packing list we have refined over nine years, plus our trip planner, budget sheet and the gear we would buy again. Free for newsletter readers.

Postcards from readers
We followed the Patagonia guide day by day, budget sheet and all, and came home with money left over. The offline map saved us twice.
The only travel blog I trust for real costs. Their Portugal breakdown was within twenty euros of what we actually spent.
I joined the Kyoto small-group trip on my own and left with nine new friends. Unhurried, thoughtful and never touristy.
